Like in most cases, the book surpasses the movie, but not by much, and I believed that Audition, the novel and the movie would be one of those things I would easily forget in due time, along with its author, Ryu Murakami. I had just watched the cult movie Audition by Takeshi Miike (13 Assassins, Ichi the Killer), and although dissapointed with that movie, I decided to pick up the book from which the movie is adapted. I first heard of Ryu while I was in London. Hiding behind what looks like a promo for new japanese cartoon is a prolific writer that is not to be confused with the much more famous Haruki Murakami. ![]()
